Meet The Founders

East Coast natives turned LA neighbors, Sarah and Kat built careers in entertainment and real estate – different on the surface, but with more parallels than you might expect. Both worlds are rooted in connection and understanding what moves people.

While living on the same street, they found themselves drawn to the idea of finding their own Ikigai, a Japanese concept often described as the intersection of what you love, what you’re good at, and what the world needs. That shared search quickly deepened their friendship and began to shape what would become Karma Companions.

Sarah, a longtime volunteer with Meals on Wheels, and Kat, deeply involved in The Woman’s Club, were each surrounded by older adults who were sharp and capable – yet missing something fundamental. Their lives were full, but their circles had quietly narrowed. Not from lack or want, just time and change.

Karma Companions grew from that void – and from finding something in their own friendship they wanted to make more possible for others to experience. In discovering their own Ikigai, they aim to help companions find theirs, and clients rediscover a deeper sense of fulfillment through human connection!
